purses and more

Well the buzz on the street this weekend for some is not the Olympics but the sending and the receiving of framed purses as part of the Framed In swap!

I was really lucky to have Di of Willowbeck Design making me a framed purse in the blind swap. Here's what she sent me
Framed Purse Swap Received!

You all know how I love Summersville so this purse was perfect!

Here's what I sent my partner who I can't name as they won't have received the package just yet! I stuffed the purse full of scraps in matching colours along with some teeny tiny crochet hearts.

This week I've done some more work on sewing room, here's a shot of my inspiration corner in progress. This is where my Mac is so I can see all my pretties whilst I'm working = perfect.

I've also been working on a quilt for my friends 40th birthday which is going to be late but hey ho, better late than never!! It's a bow-tie quilt using the tutorial on Katy's blog. I'm using Heather Ross's Far Far Away 2 paired with Essex Linen in Putty as she's a neutrals kinda girly girl!!

In the post this week I was excited to receive July's package from Pink Castle Fabrics Stash Club. I think it's Navy next month which will be great, I opted to get the full club in fat quarters which is 12 FQs per month.

Finally as it's the summer holidays we've been out and about enjoying the great outdoors, here's a collage of a fun day out had at Harewood House, Leeds last Thursday.

BOM's

I've decided to take part in not one but two Block of the Month Programmes this year instead of Quilt Bee's! I figured it would be easier on my stress levels with having a new baby in the house.

First up I joined the Fat Quarter Shop Mystery Designer BOM. I was totally swayed by the fact that the whole quilt is made using Bonnie and Camille's Vintage Modern which I adore!

Here's Block #1

I've also joined the Gypsy Wife BOM which is run by Amitie Textiles of Australia. The fabric choices that Amitie send out are amazeballs and I will love this quilt once it's finished!

Apart from a little hand sewing of hexies for my framed purse swap I've not accomplished much this last week in terms of sewing!! The hubby has got Holly's chest infection and is *quite* poorly so I've been solo parenting since Tuesday. Truth. Man-Flu. Need I say more?!

Hitting up the sewing room today so hopefully more to show in a couple of days!

what more fabric?!

It appears more fabric yumminess has jumped through my letterbox this last couple of days. Ooops!

I'm thinking this has to be it for a while, unless I need specifics for finishing projects, as maternity pay barely covers the household bills never mind the luxury of new fabric. Boo!

I simply couldn't let the Fat Quarter Shop's limited time offer of 50% off Amy Butler's Lark pass me by now could I? I opted for the Glamour FQ bundle and then 3 yards of my favourite print to hopefully make up a Wiksten Tank. Though currently there's a monsoon occurring here with heavy localised flooding so it appears I need a new raincoat more than a summer tank top!!

I also got another bundle from Pink Castle Fabrics as Brenda had put Lizzy House 1001 Peeps into the sale section at a mere $6 per yard! I got 2 yards plus a yard of Kona Grey to finish up my Spring Carnival EPP cushion - more on that another day! I always think when buying from the USA that to get good value from the recently increased postage charges, I need to fill my mailing envelope!! Hence the half yards of other stuff in the bundle!!!

I've also received my 1st months fabric from Amitie in Australia as I'm doing their Gypsy Wife BOM too. I've got the fabric cut and ready to sew when the baby is next asleep.

I've managed to squeeze in some time making these cute hexies from Kate Spains new line Cuzco, it's not due for release until October time I think but a little birdie gave me some scraps as the colours are ideal for a certain Framed Purse Project I'm working on!

Anyhow it's the weekend in a matter of hours and I'm spending it on a Brain Boosters course with Holly - what are your plans??? Anything exciting??

PS: sorry about the crappy corners on my pictures - must've forgot to tick the right box & no time to go change now. Argggh!

this and that

I've been working away on a few bits and pieces this last couple of weeks. I'd forgotten really how much time a baby takes up! I mean he's such a good boy but I can't stop looking at him and smiling - oh well!

My stash is still a work in progress. I do a bit more on it when I'm ironing the kids clothes and it currently looks like this.

WIP Stash sorting!

Its about half way sorted would you say?? Well this would be great if it wasn't for this!

Stash building!

I just can't seem to stop buying fabric here and there. Here's a gorgeous stack from the great Pink Castle Fabrics and the first month of Fat Quarter Shops Mystery Designer BOM. I also opted to get the finishing and backing kits for the BOM quilt as its all made from Bonnie and Camille's Vintage Modern which I just adore!
I've also been mad stitching - 8 of these cute Robins to be precise! These are the design of Aneela Hoey and if you remember I made one whilst in London at the Fat Quarterly retreat.

Robins @aneelahoey stylie! Made 8 of these after @fatquarterly retreat as presents for the ladies of the kitchen guild! A happy reminder!

When I got home I decided to make one for each of the girlies that were to be at the next meeting of the kitchen guild!!

Speaking of which I also managed to finish my foundation pieced pillow that I started at retreat! I gifted this to my lovely friend Mandy for her birthday a couple of weeks ago!

Postcard from Paris Pillow

Finally I've been doing some secret stitching for another dear friend - all will be revealed later!!!

Blimey when I started this post I didn't think I'd have much to show you!! I accomplished all this and managed to nurse 'Little Miss H' through an ongoing chest infection too. Poor mite has been very poorly this last few days :(
