Ho Ho Ho.....

So you all know its only about 15 weeks to Christmas right?

Well in the spirit of trying to be organised I almost snatched the lovely Karen's arm off when she offered me one of these to make up for the kids!!!

You see I'm a sucker for handmade Christmas goodies, I just think they add something magical to this very special time of year and what could be better than a fabulous 'Make Your Own Advent Calendar Kit' from one of your lovely talented friends. Nothing that's what.

If you don't know the lovely Karen from Blueberry Park, why the hell not? She not only writes the loveliest blog with some awesome photography but she designs and sells her wares in both her Etsy shop and her online store all of which trade under the same name, that's so you don't forget it that is!

This great kit is so simple to sew up and is just genius, you get the two lots of screen printed fabric (it's actually screen printed by Karen at home), the red background and the white numbers panel plus the red ribbon to hang the finished article up and obviously a set of instructions!!

Here's my calendar looking pretty good so far! Just got to finish sewing the pockets on - I'm trying to sew it when the kids aren't around as I don't want to spoil the surprise!

I can't wait to choose the gifts to put in the little pockets, in fact I'll be starting to gather them from here on in!!

Anyhow's if you fancy making your own Advent Calendar just click the linky to be whisked away to Karen's online shop where you can buy one and whilst you're there have a peruse at all the other pretties, I promise there are some lovely unique goodies that would make great Christmas presents for the special peeps in your life! I'm currently eyeing up these beauties.

  1. My daughter loves Polly Pocket, so I would fill a few pockets with them. The rest could be chocolate, jewellery and make up.

  3. My son is a Lego lover, and has just discovered the collectible figures so I'd put a figure in each pocket. In the final pocket though, I would put his Annual New Hanging Christmas Tree Decoration

  6. I already follow both your and Karen's blogs. As for the advent calendar. I'm expecting our first grandchild so as a gift for him and the others that will surely follow this would be perfect. Something he can look forward to at granny's every Christmas with toys, chocs, cards etc in the pockets.

  7. How about farm animals? not real ones of course! My sons loved their toy farm!

  8. It's my son's FIRST Christmas so I think I would have to fill it with a combination of wooden animals, finger puppets, socks, colourful blocks - all things to grab his attention and help him develop those all important motor skills.

  9. Thanks for a great give away. I have to agree with Michelle's comment, it would be lego mini figures in our house too! Also a few clues to lead them to other larger treats hidden around the house like Christmas books.

  11. Oh I've wanted to make one of these for ages and Karen's design is brilliant, please count me in. Knowing my kids I'd better include a little bit of chocolate but I'd also pop in some of their favourites like lego and crayons.

If I'm lucky enough to win you can reach me on twitter @katgotthecream

  13. Over here they tend to put just a sweet in each day but one year when dh was working in UK and I was in France I wrapped up 24 little pressies and made him a pressie advent calender...its quite difficult to find small pressies for a man, :)

  14. One of these has always been somewhere on my to do list, admitedly near the bottom as I'm all out of kids... As for treasures in the pockets, I'd go for wee rubbers and pencil sharpeners and badges and magnets, you know, all the crap that when you were on a school trip you really wanted to spend your £2 spending money on because your parents were too mean to buy them for you ;o)

  16. Wow... such a beautiful kit! I'd love to win :)

I tried to make one last year (2011) but didn't follow through... For my nearly 3 year old boy, I would put in a mix of tiny toys and fun activities - like baking cookies and stomping in puddles!
